Routinely Collected Data Skills Workshop - Part 1 of 2

Posted Monday 25 November 2024 | Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre (TAAHC)

  • Is there a research question that you want to pursue, and you think that data routinely collected by your organisation would probably help you answer it?
  • You can get permission to use the data – but then what do you do with it?
  • Is it in the right form?
  • Is it going to be able to answer your question? How do you organize it and analyse it once you have it?

Join Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre (TAAHC) Lead Statistician Emeritus Professor Rhondda Jones and Townsville HHSs Rudolf Schnetler for these skill development workshops to find out how.

Part 1 (Wednesday 15 November)

You will learn how to:

  • match the data to your research question
  • identify possible problems and flaws in the data set
  • clean up the data before analyzing it.

Part 2 (Wednesday 6 December)

You will learn how to:

  • identify what kinds of analyses you might need
  • determine whether there are enough data for the analyses you need
  • display data summaries, numerically and graphically
  • decide whether you need help in handling and analyzing the data.
