Victim-survivors of domestic and family violence commonly experience a combination of technology-facilitated and in-person physical, sexual and/or financial abuse. Technology provides a way to extend the perpetrator’s ability to monitor and maintain surveillance of the victim-survivor. However, the nature of technology-facilitated coercive control means that victim-survivors can find seeking help to be challenging.
Hear from Dr Jasmine B.MacDonald (AIFS) and Dr Evita March plus practitioners Niamh O’Connor and Kristen Poel as they describe what technology-facilitated coercive control looks like, the different ways it can be experienced, and provide strategies to help you support your clients.
Drawing on the latest research and practitioner insights, this webinar will:
- describe what technology-facilitated coercive control looks like in practice
- provide examples of the different ways that victim-survivors might experience technology-facilitated coercive control
- suggest strategies for face-to-face and telehealth practice.
Presenters: Dr Evita March, Niamh O’Connor, Kristen Poel and Dr Jasmine B. MacDonald
Please note: This is a re-run of a webinar held in December 2022. There will be no live facilitation or audience questions.
