The Committee applies a skills matrix to assist with the process of assessing EOI applications to complement continuing directors.
NQPHN is a public company limited by guarantee incorporated under the Corporations Act. We are the lead organisation for developing – with our partners – an integrated and coordinated primary healthcare system that delivers the best care possible to achieve measurable health improvements for the people of North Queensland. NQPHN is one of 31 Primary Health Networks funded by the Australian Government to provide better access to improved primary healthcare services.
NQPHN aims to improve health outcomes for all residents by supporting, investing in, and working collaboratively with local Hospital and Health Services (HHSs), the primary healthcare sector, local government areas (LGAs), other health organisations, and the wider community.

Applications will be considered and reviewed by the NQPHN Nomination and Remuneration Committee (Committee), and recommendations will then be made to the Board. The appointments will expire at the AGM in November 2022 with view for continuation.
As part of the skills matrix process, preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate skills, experience, or capability in the following key criteria:
- A community general practitioner (in accordance with clause 14.1 of the Constitution). To align with our strategic plan and commissioning priorities practitioners with expertise and interest in First Nations people’s health, mental health or population health would be viewed favourably.
- Applicants with a strong understanding of or expertise in one or more of the following skills to complement their medical practitioner qualifications and interests.
- corporate governance
- clinical governance
- system integration and innovation
- stakeholder engagement.
- It would be desirable that applicants ordinarily reside in the NQPHN region (from Sarina in the south to the Torres Strait in the north), and/or can demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to the primary healthcare of the region.
- Applicants who can demonstrate skills that complement those of continuing directors in delivering on the recently revised strategic plan.
