RHD/ARF Program Coordinator

Gurriny Yealamucka Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (GYHSAC) is seeking an experienced primary health care Registered Nurse to fill the RHD/ARF Program Coordinator role. The Registered Nurse position will design, develop, implement, and actively participate in a program that supports the prevention and management of ARF and RHD.

Skills and experience

You will hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and must have a strong commitment to the principles of holistic and person-centred healthcare.

To be successful, a minimum of five (5) years varied experience in senior positions within an Aboriginal community-controlled setting is a requirement. A sound understanding of and commitment to the principles of Aboriginal community control, cultural identity, practices, and beliefs is essential.

Demonstrated knowledge of the health determinants faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and proven experience in applying this knowledge when working within an Indigenous community will be highly regarded.

Essential Selection Criteria

1. Understanding of and commitment to the principles of Aboriginal community control, cultural identity, practices and beliefs.
2. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership within a primary health care setting, including experience in multidisciplinary team supervision and development.
3. Proven ability to manage funded health programs including associated operational, contractual, and reporting outcomes and requirements.
4. High level of clinical knowledge of best practices in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of ARF and RHD.
5. Interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills capable of influencing outcomes, including the ability to communicate effectively and credibly within an Indigenous Community setting.
6. Agreement with and commitment to observing and upholding organisational mission, vision, and values and their application to this position

Other position requirements

• Availability during clinic hours: 8am-4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
• Evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination.
• Commitment to maintain ongoing CPR certification.
• Current Queensland drivers licence.
