Sustainable General Practice

This talk is a shortened version of that presented at the 2024 RACGP Practice Owners Conference. It will provide an overview of  Sustainability in General Practice and how you can get started on reducing your carbon and environmental footprint.  

Dr Nicole Sleeman is an active member of the RACGP Climate and Environmental Medicine Special Interests Group and Doctors for the Environment Australia (DEA). She joined the Climate Health movement in 2017 after learning that climate change is the greatest threat to human health of the century and has since been involved in climate health advocacy, campaigning and education. Nicole is passionate about Sustainable Healthcare and recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Public and Environmentally Sustainable Health.

Dr Jane Barry is a practice owner of Thrive Medical in Cairns North. She built and manages her practice with sustainable healthcare in mind. Jane can offer practical advice on some of the easy wins and challenges she has faced, with the insight of someone who has been working in this space for some time.
