Spinal Life Australia are seeking an Occupational Therapist to work with their clients. They are flexible on full or part time for this position.

SLA are seeking a confident and courageous Occupational Therapist, who is experienced in delivering industry best practice and believes there is always a better way to do things.

As part of a team of highly motivated allied health professionals, you will work closely with people with spinal cord damage and other physical disabilities to help them achieve their goals and live the life they want to lead.

This is a permanent position based in Townsville and SLA can be flexible on either full or part time capacity in this role.

In this dynamic role, you can make a meaningful contribution to your customer’s lives by:

  • trialling and prescribing equipment and assistive technology including manual and power wheelchairs, pressure reduction cushions, hoists and slings, shower chairs, continence, and daily living aids
  • writing reports for funding bodies to support the purchase of equipment and assistive technology to meet customers’ needs
  • daily visits to support your customers in the community
  • contributing to strategic planning to improve and expand SLA's services
  • completing Functional Capacity Assessments, applications for Complex Home Modifications, Supported Independent Living and Specialist Disability Accommodation, as well as driving assessments and recommendations
  • managing your caseload while working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the best outcomes for our customers.

Successful applicants will need:

  • current AHPRA registration
  • experience in working with people with spinal cord damage or other physical disabilities would be an advantage
  • high level of organisational skills to manage and coordinate caseloads
  • high level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • experience in delivering the best possible solutions for your customers
  • experience working in a fee-for-service environment is highly desirable
  • either have a current blue and yellow card or be able to apply for an NDIS workers screen and a Blue card
  • provide a COVID-19 vaccination certificate.
